Migracion

What a process …

We did this the first week I was sick, so you can imagine my thoughts on the process (of course I’m sure my frustration was all due to feeling so crappy).

We went into the Immmigration Office early in the morning … to do our paperwork.  Other than the wait time it was a fairly easy breezy process.  We met with a Migracion Officer, who told us what we needed to do before we could come back and do the paperwork.  So, rather than leaving and coming back another time, we decided to do it all right then and there.

We had to get passport photos, fill out forms and do letters AND a whole lot of photocopying.  Luckily and conveniently, there’s a little office outside of the Migracion Office that will do all this for you (or at least assist you with the process).  After about an hour, we were ready to go back into Migracion and ‘hurry up & wait’.  We had another 2 hour wait before we spoke to another Officer, but then within 5 minutes we were done.  Paperwork in order, we were told to check back in 2 weeks to see the status.

Within 6 days, our visas had been approved and we had an appointment to go back into Migracion for fingerprints and to sign papers.  Easy breezy … and within 2 weeks we will have our ‘residency cards’ … YAY !!!  So now, we wait another week or so and we shall have them in our possession !!! 🙂 🙂

As for the ‘Aduana’ – vehcile permits … that’s a WHOLE other story …

stay tuned …
