Having recently completed some much needed repairs to our RV with the help of First Canadian Insurance, here we are, very grateful for our Extended Warranty company. One really important thing to understand with RV’s is Extended Warranties. Now, if you’re anything like me, you’ll assume it’s just a way for the salesman to get more commission from the sale and want to refuse it. Fortunately, my husband insisted on it and we purchased the ‘Platinum Protection Program’ which is an Extended Warranty provided by First Canadian Insurance www.firstcanadian.ca. It was the best decision we could have made.
So, do you remember what the most important part of your purchase is? Let me remind you one more time ~ EXTENDED WARRANTY!
Get the Extended Warranty with your purchase. It is the most important part of your purchase! There are so many things you would NEVER think of that can go wrong with your unit and many of these things won’t go wrong until after the Manufacturer’s Warranty has expired. TRUST ME, after recently having thousands of dollars done in repairs, I am soooo grateful it was all covered under our Extended Warranty. So, when your salesman asks if you want the Extended Warranty what are you going to say? It truly is in your best interest to purchase it … honestly!
Since owning our RV we have dealt with the Extended Warranty companies several times ~ and they have never let us down.
A few hints and things to consider for new fulltimer’s looking to purchase a RV are as follows…
- Storage ~ ALWAYS ensure you have enough storage. If you are new to RVing, you might think there is plenty, however if you are an old hand at this you know that after living in your RV for a while…storage issues creep up!
- Washer/Dryer ~ Foolishly, I chose NOT to take this option…I figured we wouldn’t need it. We could just use laundry services whereever we stop and camp. And now I regret my decision. The cost of laundry services don’t seem much but they add up! We also discovered that there are plenty of places that don’t offer laundry services and if they do, you wouldn’t want to put your clothes in their machines! Take the option…you’ll appreciate it at some point!
- Water Filters ~ Because some people don’t plan their trips and just ‘hop in and go’, you never know where you may end up. It’s always better to be safe than sorry and ensure you have filters attached to your hose/site water hookup. You never know if you’ll end up driving to a foreign country or which city may have a ‘boil water’ advisory in effect. Don’t take chances with your health or your pets’ health ~ always use a filter and ALWAYS keep a spare on hand!
- Maintain Maintain Maintain ~ Maintaining your RV and its’ parts and components is extremely important, not just for safety but for comfort as well.
