Over the last five years, I’ve toured a number of RV Manufacturing facilities. I really thought I had seen everything a factory would/could offer; that was until the tour of the Newmar Corp factory and their new service facility.
From experience, touring the Newmar factory will likely give one’s fitbit a fantastic workout! The service facility is away from the main factory facility and it alone is an impressive building, not to mention the reception and waiting rooms for service clients.
Newmar was established in 1968 and has always been an industry innovator. In 1968 Marvin Miller, along with Marvin Newcomer both left their jobs and founded the RV Manufacturer now known as Newmar Corporation. Newmar currently manufactures Class A Deisel, Class A Gas and Super C Motorhomes, all in a variety of models and is located in Nappanee, Indiana.
A family-run company, Newmar is dedicated RV enthusiasts who understand what they are creating and recognize that each order is not just a number but a customer; who will soon become part of its family with the product they have purchased. They focus on building a custom quality product and every Newmar Coach receives full paint with BASF paints.
Although Newmar manufactured 5th wheels until 2012, it was in the 1980’s that they entered motorhome manufacturing. In 1990 Newmar introduced the Dutch Star and the Mountain Air Class A Models and it was at this time they changed the industry with its’ first power and flush slideouts. Newmar was one of the first to have slideouts in their Class A motorhomes and it was more than three years before the competition offered this same feature. Newmar also offered full body paint on their RV’s in the 1990’s. Recent innovations include the Comfort Drive steering system, the Star Foundation and the wheelchair accessible Class A motorhomes.
I have to say … if you are looking for a new motorhome, this is one brand you should take into serious consideration. If your ever in the area make sure to take advantage of a factory tour, I promise it’s worth it!
